A roof eave protruding beyond the sides allows snow and rain to fall from the roof away from the siding to the ground. Fix a plywood board or proprietary tray to provide continuous support to underlay to prevent water retaining troughs. Vinyl soffits are the portion under the roof eaves between the wall of your home and the edge of the roof.
